Questions from Farmers

Everything you need to know about receiving free agricultural advisories, how SMS delivery works, and what to expect from Agriventa\'s extension service.

Agriventa delivers agricultural advisories directly to your mobile phone via SMS — no smartphone or internet connection required. Once you are registered in our farmer network, you will start receiving relevant farming advisories based on your location, crops, and livestock. To join, contact us through our Partners page or ask your local village agent about Agriventa.

Yes. All agricultural advisories from Agriventa are completely free for farmers. The service is funded by sponsor organisations — agribusinesses, input suppliers, financial institutions, and development organisations — who partner with Agriventa to support farmer education. You receive trusted farming information at no cost.

After registration, Agriventa sends you SMS messages with practical farming guidance tailored to your situation. Messages cover topics such as land preparation, planting schedules, crop nutrition, pest and disease control, weather preparedness, harvesting, post-harvest handling, and market opportunities. Advisories are written in simple, actionable language so you can apply the information immediately on your farm.

Agriventa works to make advisories accessible and easy to understand. Messages are crafted in clear, straightforward language. We are continuously expanding language options to better serve farmers across different regions. Contact us to enquire about advisory availability in your preferred language.

Advisories cover the full agricultural production cycle: land preparation, planting, crop and livestock management, soil and plant nutrition, pest and disease identification and control, weather preparedness, harvesting techniques, post-harvest handling and storage, market opportunities, and access to agricultural inputs, finance, and services relevant to your farming enterprise.

Yes. SDES supports two-way engagement. You can respond to advisory messages, ask follow-up questions, participate in surveys, and provide feedback. This helps Agriventa improve the relevance of advisories and gives sponsors better insight into farmer needs. Simply reply to any advisory SMS to engage.

All advisories are derived from recommendations by recognised research and extension institutions, including the Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organisation (KALRO), the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, and other credible agricultural knowledge sources. Technical content is adapted into farmer-friendly messages through an AI-assisted process and reviewed by agricultural experts before delivery.

Agriventa's service is funded through the Sponsored Digital Extension Service (SDES) model. Sponsor organisations that fund the delivery of advisories are acknowledged within relevant messages. This acknowledgement is how Agriventa keeps the advisory service free for farmers. The agricultural content itself remains unbiased, practical, and focused on your farming needs.
